Ankle Brace with Quick Lace-Up

$29.99

A lace-up ankle brace that sets in about a second — two hook-and-loop tabs instead of a shoelace, shaped pads either side of the ankle bone, and non-stretch figure-8 straps over the instep.

The awkward part of an ankle brace has always been putting it on. A proper lace-up holds you beautifully and takes three minutes with your shoe off and your foot up on the opposite knee. A pull-on sleeve takes five seconds and holds almost nothing. This ankle brace exists to end that trade-off.

The front closes like a lace-up — real eyelets, a real lace column running up the front of the ankle — but the two pull tabs are hook-and-loop and they run in opposite directions. You take one in each hand, pull them apart, press them flat, and the ankle brace is set. Nothing gets threaded and nothing gets tied, which is the whole difference when you are doing it on the edge of a bench with one shoe already on.

Under the fabric on each side sits a moulded pad, curved so it lands beside the ankle bone instead of on top of it. That one detail decides whether you can tighten an ankle brace properly or spend the afternoon quietly loosening it off. Two non-stretch straps then cross over the instep and pass under the arch — the same figure-8 path an athletic taping job follows — and because the webbing does not give, the tension you set in the morning is the tension you still have at four o’clock. That is the thing people actually end up judging an ankle brace on.

It is a thin ankle brace, deliberately so. Over 500 laser-cut holes run through the shell, the lining is a silky knit rather than thick neoprene, and the heel section carries on under the sole in a low-stretch fabric so the whole thing does not creep down inside a shoe. Let your laces out a couple of holes and it goes into most trainers. Being straight about it: it will not go into a narrow dress shoe, and an ankle brace with this much structure in it is never going to be invisible under a sock.

One ankle brace per order, and it fits either foot — the lace column runs up the front and the straps cross whichever way you send them, so there is no left or right to get wrong. If you want one on each side, order two.

Sizes run XS to XL from your own ankle measurement rather than shoe size alone, because two people with the same shoe size rarely have the same ankle, and an ankle brace one size out is worse than no ankle brace at all. Measure over the bone, match the chart in the Sizing tab, and the ankle brace closes where it is meant to instead of gaping at the cuff or bunching under the arch. Between two sizes, or on a wide foot, take the larger one.

These are this brace’s own published measurements, not a generic guide. Measure right around the ankle, over the bone. Shoe size is a cross-check, not the answer — go by the tape. If you are between two sizes, or your foot is wide, take the larger one.

  • XS – ankle 9.6"–10" · women’s shoe 5–6 · men’s shoe 6–7
  • S – ankle 10"–11.6" · women’s shoe 6–8 · men’s shoe 7–9
  • M – ankle 11.6"–12.8" · women’s shoe 8–10 · men’s shoe 9–11
  • L – ankle 13"–14" · women’s shoe 10–12 · men’s shoe 11–13
  • XL – ankle 14"–15" · women’s shoe 12–14 · men’s shoe 13–15

Each brace fits either foot, so there is no left or right to choose — just the size.

QUICK LACE-UP

Laces Without The Lacing

The front closes like a lace-up, but the two pull tabs are hook-and-loop and they run in opposite directions — you pull them apart, press them down, and the ankle brace is set. No threading eyelets while sitting on the edge of the bed with one shoe already on.

TWO SHAPED PADS

The Bone Gets Left Alone

A moulded pad sits on each side of the ankle brace, curved so it presses the soft ground either side of the ankle bone instead of the bone itself. That is the difference between firm and sore after the second hour, and it is why this one can be tightened properly.

FIGURE-8 STRAPS

Wrapped The Way Tape Is Wrapped

Two non-stretch straps cross over the instep and pass under the arch, the same figure-8 path an athletic taping job follows. Because they do not stretch, the ankle brace holds the shape you set it to rather than slowly giving it back over an afternoon. Five steps, none of them fiddly.

It Does Not Turn Into A Sauna

Over 500 laser-cut holes run through the shell and the lining is a silky knit rather than thick neoprene, so this is a thin ankle brace and not a hot one. The heel section carries on under the sole in a low-stretch fabric, which is what stops it creeping down inside a shoe.

Holds the setting all the way to four o’clock.

Frequently asked
questions.

The questions people actually ask before buying one.

Yes, in most trainers and a lot of everyday shoes. The ankle brace is slim through the foot — that is the point of the low-profile straps — but it is not invisible, so let your shoelaces out a couple of holes the first time and see how it feels. Narrow dress shoes are the one place it will not go.

Measure around your ankle over the bone with a soft tape. XS covers 9.6" to 10", S covers 10" to 11.6", M covers 11.6" to 12.8", L covers 13" to 14" and XL covers 14" to 15". The shoe-size column on the chart is a sanity check, not the deciding number. Between two sizes, or a wide foot, take the larger one.

One. Each ankle brace fits either the left or the right foot — the lace column runs up the front and the figure-8 straps can be crossed either way — so if you want one on each side, order two.

A few seconds once you have done it twice. Loosen everything, slide your foot in with a sock on, pull the two lace tabs apart and press them down, then take each strap over the top of the foot, under the arch, and back to the side. Nothing has to be threaded.

It is built for it. The straps do not stretch, so the ankle brace keeps the setting through a run instead of loosening off, and the open shell means your foot is not sitting in a sealed pocket. Most people find they stop noticing it after the first mile.

60% nylon, 27% polyester, 10% plastic and 3% metal. The plastic is the two shaped side pads, the metal is the eyelet hardware, and everything against your skin is the knit lining.

Close the hook-and-loop tabs so they do not grab the fabric, then hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent and air dry flat. Keep it away from the tumble dryer and the radiator — heat is what kills the elastic and the adhesive on the pads.

Free U.S. shipping and a 30-day return window. Measure your ankle, wear the brace around the house for a day, and send it back if the size is wrong.
