Squeeze holds nothing. Structure does.

Two Stays, One Each Side
A moulded stay sits in a pocket down each side, beside the ankle bone rather than over it. They are stiff front-to-back and flexible up-and-down, so the ankle brace resists sideways movement while your foot still points and flexes normally.

The Heel Stays Out
The whole heel comes through an opening at the back. That is what stops the brace turning into a hot pocket, and it is what lets it sit flat in a shoe with nothing bunched behind your heel.

One Strap, Crossed Over The Instep
The long strap goes over the top of the foot, under the arch and back up the other side — the same path an athletic taping job follows. Pull both ends out, then back, and press them down; the tension is whatever you set it to, not a fixed size.

Two Pulls, Set Separately
The wide cuff band and the foot strap adjust independently. Firm at the top and gentle across the foot, or the other way round — and either one can be re-set in a couple of seconds without taking the ankle brace off.

Set it once. Change it whenever.

How we compare.
What a stayed wrap does that a pull-on sleeve or a roll of tape cannot.
Frequently asked
questions.
The questions people actually ask before buying one.
There is one size and it closes on any ankle circumference between 26 and 37 cm, which is 10 to 15 inches. Measure around the ankle bone. The brace stands 19 cm tall, so it finishes just above the ankle bone rather than up the leg.
No. Each stay lives in a sewn pocket down its own side of the brace, which is what keeps it beside the ankle bone instead of wandering. It is not a rigid brace either way — the stays resist sideways movement, they do not stop the foot bending.
In most trainers and roomy everyday shoes, yes, especially with the laces let out a hole or two. The open heel is what makes that possible. A narrow dress shoe is the one place it will not go.
Either. The cuff band closes the same way round on both sides and the strap crosses whichever direction you send it, so one ankle brace covers whichever foot you need it on.
Firm enough that the brace does not shift when you walk, loose enough that you can slide a finger under the cuff band. Start light on the first day and take it up from there — both pulls are independent, so you can adjust one without disturbing the other.
Close the hook-and-loop onto itself first, then hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent and dry it flat, away from any radiator. Neoprene does not enjoy a tumble dryer.
