Most supports arrive at a fixed tension. You put a size medium on and a size medium is what you get, every day, whatever the day is. A wrap is different: this ankle brace has three separate things to pull, and the fit is a decision you make each time you put it on.

A band closes around the top of the ankle brace first. Then two long straps cross over the top of the foot, pass under the arch and fasten back on the sides in a figure-8. Firm across the foot with a gentle cuff, firm at the cuff with an easy foot — all of it is yours, and none of it needs threading through anything.

The heel comes out through a large opening at the back. That is the detail that makes an ankle brace liveable: the joint bends where it wants to, air gets to the part of the foot that actually sweats, and nothing is bunched under your heel inside a shoe. The neoprene keeps the joint warm everywhere else, and a perforated panel over the ankle bone lets the heat that builds up get out, which is what keeps this ankle brace wearable for a whole day.

One size covers an arch circumference from 7.8 to 11 inches — measured around the middle of the foot, not around the ankle, which trips people up. That is a wide range because the straps do the sizing, but it is still a range: past 11 inches this ankle brace will not close properly and no amount of pulling will fix it.

The ankle brace fits either foot, so there is nothing to get wrong at the order stage, and it is one ankle brace per order rather than a pair. Wear the ankle brace over a thin sock if the neoprene feels warm against bare skin — it changes very little about how the ankle brace holds and quite a lot about how it feels by the afternoon.

Measured around the arch of the foot — the middle of the foot, not the ankle. This is the one this brace is sized on.

  • One Size – 7.8"–11" (up to 28 cm)

One size, measured around the arch of the foot rather than around the ankle: it closes on an arch circumference from 7.8 inches up to 11 inches, which is 28 cm at the top of the range. It fits either foot, so there is no left or right to choose.

The straps do the sizing inside that range, so there is no in-between to worry about.

THREE PULLS

Three Places To Pull

The top band and the two foot straps all set independently, so the fit is something you choose rather than something the size decides for you. A perforated panel over the ankle bone lets heat out, and the neoprene keeps the rest of the joint warm.

OPEN HEEL

Open Heel, Full Movement

The heel comes through a large opening at the back, so the joint bends where it wants to and nothing is bunched under your heel inside a shoe. It is also the reason this ankle brace does not turn into a sealed pocket by the afternoon.

NO THREADING

Six Steps, Nothing Threaded

Lay it flat, heel into the opening, fold the wings across the foot, cross the two straps, close the band. Six steps, none of which involve feeding anything through a loop while balancing on one leg.

TENSION YOU SET

Cross It, Then Pull

Because it is a wrap, the tension is a decision and not a size. Pull the straps out and back across the top of the foot until it feels right, press them down, and re-set them later if the day changes.

Warm where it wraps. Open where it counts.

Frequently asked
questions.

The questions people actually ask before buying one.

Measure around the arch — the middle of the foot — rather than around the ankle. One size closes on anything from 7.8 to 11 inches, which is up to 28 cm. Past that it will not close properly.

Yes, in most trainers and roomy everyday shoes. The open heel keeps the back of the shoe clear, which is where a closed brace usually causes trouble. Let the laces out a hole or two the first time.

Either works. Over a thin sock is more comfortable if you are wearing it for hours, and it makes no real difference to how firmly the ankle brace holds.

One. It fits either foot — the straps cross whichever way you send them — so order two if you want one on each side.

The straps are hook-and-loop and they hold, but neoprene warms and gives a little as you move. Most people give the foot strap one extra pull an hour or so in and then leave it alone.

Close the straps onto themselves so they do not grab anything, hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent, and dry it flat away from direct heat.

Stay in the loop.
